2025-26 Kitimat Airshed Group Wood Smoke Reduction Program

Rebates for Exchanging a Woodstove

The Kitimat Airshed Group (KAG) is offering rebates to eligible residents who remove their 5+-year-old wood-burning appliance used for home heating and replace it with an EPA or CSA-certified woodstove, pellet stove, or electric heat pump. Rebates are available on a first-come, first-served basis for all households in the Kitimat-Terrace Valley Airshed that meet the eligibility criteria below. There is one rebate permitted per household.

The rebate amounts for 2025*
  • CSA or EPA-certified woodstove - $600
  • Pellet Stove - $1000
  • Electric heat pump - $1500
  • Bounty Option - $300
First Nations Communities rebate amounts for 2025*
  • CSA or EPA-certified woodstove - $1200
  • Pellet Stove - $2000
  • Electric heat pump - $3000
  • Bounty Option - $300

How to Apply

  1. Check rebate eligibility here and contact the KAG at kitimatairshedgroup@gmail.com to confirm eligibility and receive an application form.
  2. Complete the installation of the eligible new heating appliances (make sure you take a picture of the previous stove before removal). See eligible appliances here.
  3. Submit the application and supporting documents by emailing KAG at the email address above. A mandatory survey will be required during your application submission.
  4. The KAG Secretariat will help you through the application process and if all requirements are met, your rebate will be sent via e-transfer or a cheque in the mail.
Please note that you must provide proof that your old appliance was decommissioned.
